What Quill says (transcript)
- Welcome to The Cursive Club! Today's letter is i.
- Cursive is movement on paper. Body, arm, wrist, hand, pencil.
- Stand up, and flick a fishing line with me!
- Big arm. Swing up. Slant down. And let it go!
- That swoop up is called an undercurve.
- Now watch the letter i.
- Start on the baseline. Undercurve up to the midline.
- Slant down to the baseline.
- Then curve out.
- Add the dot last!
- Again, a little faster. Up, down, out, dot.
- Now, nice and quick.
- Your turn! Trace the gray letters in your book.
- Go slow, and start at the dot.
- When you write, keep your pencil on the paper.
- Lift it only at the end, to add the dot.
- Now let's join i and t, to write the word it.
- Up, down, and swing right into the t.
- Dot the i and cross the t at the end.
- Great job, cursive star! Pause and practice on your page!
